The Periodic Public Service Announcement Regarding Spoofed Farcebook Accounts

Okay, your Evil Auntie is getting irritable again…so here’s my periodic public service announcement:

If people are sending out friend requests to your Facebook friends, they have NOT hacked your account.

They have created an account in your name and are going through your (apparently publicly available) friends list and sending out friend requests via that for their brand spanking new Farcebook account.WHY would they have to send out friend requests to your existing friends if they’re already IN your account? They wouldn’t have to.

So stop freaking out about it.

You haven’t been hacked.

You just need to make your friends list friends ONLY and spoofers won’t be able to pull those sorts of sneaky shenanigans very easily at all.

If you can’t figure out how to do this, find a trusted friend to walk you through the process.
